Dana's Dog Care, About Us

Dana Childers founded "Dana's Dog Care" in 1999.  She and her son Timothy, have raised, trained and shown their own Champion Alaskan Malamutes since the early 90's.  Timothy started confirmation training when he was 7 years old and began showing his first Beagle when he was 8 years old.  He and Casey won “Winners” at the East Coast Hound Specialty when he was only 8 years old!  He obtained his first AKC Championship title with Casey when be was 10 years old. He is still involved in the AKC Confirmation Sport and continues to show their Alaskan Malamutes. Timothy and Dana conduct Dana's Dog Care AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Training and AKC CGC, CGCA, CGCU, CGC Trick Dog, CGC Therapy Dog Training Classes, as well as Basic Obedience and Puppy Socialization Training Classes.  Timothy is Co Owner of "Dana's Dog Care LLC".

Dana retired from a very successful 17 year Human Resources  career, to start her Dog Boarding, Training, Dog Walking Business in 1999.  Dana purchased 15 acres in Prince William County in 2003, built the house, and completed the county process to acquire her Special Use Permit to operate a Dog Boarding Business.  In 2005 the Prince William County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to approve "Dana's Dog Care LLC"  "Dana's Dog Care LLC" is family owned and operated by Dana and her son Timothy.

Dana and Timothy have been working together for the past several years building two new county approved Dana's Dog Care buildings on the property.  As Project Manager, Timothy successfully completed the task of overseeing the construction of the two new buildings, including the new Dana's Dog Care Training Building.  He oversaw the architecture design. site development, construction, electric, water, and sewer for the project.   He communicated and coordinated all activities between several different agencies in the county as well as the Prince William Fire Department, and Prince William County Service Authority. He managed all building and site inspections with each Prince William Count Agency. The 20 year project was successfully completed in June 2025. 

Dana completed the Embark Canine Health Summit is 2022.  The Embark Canine Health Summit included information and up to date research regarding Canine Behavior and the latest genetics research to improve heath and lifespan of dogs.
